Hon. Matthew James Inscore, son of Joseph and Eliza Inscore, is a native of Springfield, Tennessee, born February 22, 1841. He was thrown upon his own resources at eight years of age, in consequence of the death of his parents, and while learning the saddle and harness maker's trade, studied law alone, although he had never attended school but part of a three months' term. April 7, 1862, he married Amanda J. Hoskins, and has five children. He has held the offices of City Clerk, Polie Magistrate and City Treasurer of the city of Anna; Assistant Assessor of Internal Revenue for the Eighteenth District, and member of the House of Representatives in the Twenty-eighth and Twenty-ninth General Assemblies.
